The new socioeconomic normality following the COVID-19 outbreak poses unprecedented challenges for governments and citizens alike. Since the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic, despite governments having access to diverse economic data, accurate information on how the new normality and specific policies influence individual and group conduct, and consequently, society’s well-being, is scarce, indirect and open to interpretation. Therefore, it becomes necessary to have data which provide a reliable, quantitative indicator of how different measures and their impact on the economic, social and behavioural context affect the general well-being of the population.
POSTCOVID-AI will help identify qualitative indicators through the development of a novel intelligent framework for the real-time acquisition and analysis of social, behavioral, and emotional data to monitor the impact of the post-COVID-19 daily context on the well-being of the Spanish population.
POSTCOVID-AI will monitor ubiquitous, continuous and anonymous data among every segment of the population, using smartphones. The gathered information will include demograpic, COVID19-related as well as emotional, social, behavioural, and well-being data. This unique dataset will be analysed via artificial intelligence to detect and predict relevant patterns.
POSTCOVID-AI goes beyond the traditional methods of social research. Its innovation lies in the fact that, instead of offering a static picture, it will allow us to closely observe and study, in real-time and at large-scale, the evolution of people’s social, behavioural and emotional response to unfolding events of the pandemic, including the adoption of specific policies and measures. That way, it will help to determine the adaptive and recovery ability of the population when facing post-pandemic events.
POSTCOVID-AI will generate an unprecedented open dataset describing population’s social, behavioural and emotional dynamics within the post-COVID-19 context. Likewise, the intelligent co-analysis of these data in cooperation with social agents and stakeholders will provide novel knowledge to ease the design and fitting of the current and upcoming policies.
POSTCOVID-AI is eminently aimed at providing new social evidence to aid relevant stakeholders in the complex decisión making prompted by the current pandemic. The main findings will be opportunely released to the general society to increase the conciousness about this issue and spark the scientific interest.
